Meet Loren Lentz
Second Generation Farmer. Committed to Excellence.
A Legacy of Quality
My family moved to Clayton in 1979. We started raising and selling locker beef in 1990 when customers asked for it. I learned something important from my father: shortcuts don't exist when you're building something that matters. Every morning before school, I was in the barn. Every summer, I was in the fields. This is what I know.
When I took over operations in 1996, I decided from the beginning I wouldn't let the quality slip. We added a new barn in 1998 so we could store hay year-round, went full time and added irrigated hay ground in 2002, and in 2010 we launched Lazy L Farm Service & Supply so neighbors could get fertilizer, chemicals, spraying, and seed in one place. Every step has been about doing it right.
We're not the biggest operation around, but when you buy from Lazy L Ranch, you're getting more than hay or beef—you're getting our word that we stand behind every bale and every cut. That's a promise I take seriously.
I know most of my customers by name. I know their animals. I know what they need. That's the kind of farm business I want to run, and that's what sets us apart.

What We Stand For
Quality Over Quantity
We'd rather produce less and maintain our standards than compromise on quality to increase volume.
Honest, Transparent Business
No hidden fees, no surprises. What you see is what you get, and we stand behind every product.
Sustainable Practices
We care for our land because it's been in our family for generations and will be for generations to come.
Personal Relationships
We don't have customers — we have neighbors and friends. Building trust one conversation & handshake at a time.

Why Barn Storage Matters
Unlike many operations that store hay outdoors, all Lazy L Ranch hay is kept in our covered barns. This isn't just about convenience—it's about quality assurance.
Weather Protection: Rain, snow, and humidity can ruin hay quickly. Our barn storage ensures your hay is protected from the elements year-round.
Consistent Quality: Whether you buy in July or January, you're getting the same high-quality product. No surprises.
Nutritional Value: Proper storage preserves the nutritional content of the hay, ensuring your animals get the maximum benefit from every bale.
